Ina and Agence France Presse (AFP) have been partners since 2005. AFP is one of the world’s leading news agencies and has an ambitious catalogue of images on national and international news.
An inexhaustible collection covering a wide variety of themes
Every month, AFP journalists, photo reporters and correspondents produce 700 new videos in French, which, 30 days after broadcast, they feed into their archives that already contain over 20 000 clips (as of December 2010).
Through a network of over 90 units worldwide, they cover a wide variety of topics, including politics, the economy, society, sports, lifestyle, sustainable development, fashion and entertainment, as well as major international events such as the Cannes Film Festival du Film de Cannes, the Olympic Games and the European Football Championship.
Videos shot and broadcast in high definition
The reports produced by AFPTV, AFP’s video service, have been available in high-definition since September 2010. This major technological breakthrough provides even better-quality images, sounds and commentaries.
About AFP
A pioneer among the world’s international press agencies, AFP was founded in 1835 by Charles-Louis Havas under the name “Havas” – Agence de presse indépendante (Independent press agency). AFP took its current name in August 1944, when Paris was liberated and the journalist-members of the Resistance against the German occupation gave up their guns and went back to their typewriters.
Today, AFP has 2 900 people working for it open to cultures all over the world. They are based in 165 countries and report on world events in six different languages around the clock, in videos, texts, photos, multimedia and graphics.
