Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries

Agriculture's Memory

The collection of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries brings together contents from the eponymous Cinematheque filmed from 1911 to 1970.

You will find images of agriculture from around the world: from harvesting sugarcane in the tropics to corn harvesting in Europe, the cultivation of grapes, and all the work around the transformation of raw materials... But also images intended to promote good educational practices related to young children.

The collection also features images from the Marshall Fund.

After the war, while the United States was financing an aid system for European countries in reconstruction, the Marshall Commission disseminated films produced by the United States Information Service (USIS) aimed at promoting technical progress. This fund includes more than 300 documentaries filmed between 1945 and 1957 and deposited at the French Ministry of Agriculture.

These contents offer images of major metropolises such as New York, Washington D.C, national parks, coastal areas like Cape Cod, and scenes depicting the typical American way of life.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries collection contains many treasures to be discovered urgently!
