In 1968, France hosted the Winter Olympic Games for the second time. The huge privilege of organising the tenth winter sports competition went to the city of Grenoble. The French skiing team were delighted with the exploits of Jean-Claude Killy, Marielle Goitschel, Annie Famose and Isabelle Mir.

Savoie is a natural and historic home for the Olympics. This was the third time that the French Alps welcomed the Games.
