Afghanistan-Massoud Collection

Afghanistan: the Massud Collection, an exclusive take on modern history

Yousuf Jan Nesar, a war reporter under the command of Commander Massud, entrusted INA with  more than 400 hours of video footage.

To explore and analyse the numerous war memories from the inside.

You will be plunged into the heart of the war that ran from 1982 to 2005 between Massud's armed forces and the Soviet-Afghani troops. The footage shows the struggle and the resistance, and features a number of moving portraits of both civilian and military fighters, and scenes of everyday life… In one video, Massud studies Kabul through his binoculars and talks on the phone to a group leader. In another, his officers listen to their leader addressing them. Others feature different protagonists, including the kamikaze assassins who killed Massud, and his young son attending his funeral, surrounded by a despairing crowd.
