ALSACE 1944-1955

Alsace after the Second World War, from the end of 1944 to 1955, from the liberation of the Alsatian towns and cities to reconstruction, commemorations and tributes, the Struthof camp, the "Malgré Nous" group of men from Alsace drafted by the Germans, the Council of Europe and the post-war trials.

FIRST WORLD WAR

This collection was created for the hundredth anniversary of the First World War. It contains a selection of INA collections on the Great War, including eye-witness accounts by soldiers, commemorations of the Armistice, and footage on the places still marked by memories.

A collection created on the tenth anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda.

RWANDA'S GACACA COURTS

As of 2001, the survivors of the Rwandan genocide in 1994 and prisoners suspected of crimes were able to confront each other in open courts, known as Gacaca. For ten years, Anne Aghion has been gathering evidence and filming the process. She has made four films from 350 hours of rushes. All four are included in this collection in their entirety.

THE GULF WAR

A chronology of the first Gulf War from the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein's Iraqi troops to the ceasefire that followed the Allies' military intervention, known as "Desert Storm".

THE IRAN-IRAQ WAR

This collection covers the Iran-Iraq war, which ran from 1980 to 1988. The war had numerous ramifications in international politics. In this collection, we have strived to focus on the fighting itself. NB: this collection does not distinguish footage produced by EVN.

THE NEAR EAST CONFLICT: ISRAEL - PALESTINE

This collection covers the history of Israel and the Palestinian territories from the end of the British mandate in 1947 to the Yom Kippur War in 1973, including the creation of the state of Israel and the different Israeli-Arab wars. It shows the everyday life of the Israelis and the Palestinians and the outstanding figures in their history.

THE VIETNAM WAR

The Vietnam War, the extension of the Indochina war, broke out in 1961 against the Vietcong, an offshoot of the Vietminh, with the naval incident the Gulf of Tonkin.The war reached a peak in 1968 with the Têt offsensive and came to an end in 1975 when the Thieu regime in the South capitulated. The collection also covers the post-war period .

THE WAR IN LEBANON

War broke out in Lebanon in 1975 and continued until 1989 and the Taef Agreement. This collection provides coverage of the 1958 conflict, as well as events after the Taef Agreement up to 2006, date of the Israeli intervention against the Hezbollah in South Lebanon. A special chaper is devoted to the Palestinians exiled in Lebanon.

WAR IN FORMER YUGOSLAVIA

This collection opens in 1988 with the first ethnic conflicts in Kosovo and covers the war until 2003, after western countries entered Kosovo with a UN mandate. The former various republics and autonomous provinces of Yugoslavia provide the structure of the sub-sections: Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo, and Macedonia.

A collection devoted to an episode in the history of contemporary central Africa, the events in Rwanda in 1994 and the consequences in neighbouring countries, the former Zaire under Mobutu and then Laurent Kabila.
